"Noonan's soaring, beautifully phrased high notes, ultra-musical communication of meaning and expressive use of the microphone and digital technologies were stunning." - Gillian Wills, The Australia
Fresh from recording their incredible new album with International Producer Nick Didia, Katie Noonan and her new band The Captains are very excited to get out on the road behind their epic first single ‘Page One’.
Katie Noonan's technical mastery and pure voice make her one of Australia's most versatile and beloved vocalists. A mother, singer, producer, songwriter, pianist and business woman, this multi award winning and 5 x platinum selling songstress first received widespread praise as the angel-voiced songstress of indie-pop band George and she has since taken audiences on sublime excursions through jazz, pop, rock and classical music.
‘Page One’ is a rockin’ song co-written between Katie and her Captain’s guitarist Cameron Deyell and legendary Oz songsmith Don Walker( of Cold Chisel fame) - a song that Katie wrote as a wedding gift to fellow Captain’s keyboardist Stu Hunter and his partner. Over the last two years Katie and ‘The Captains’ ( Cameron Deyell – guitar, Stu Hunter – keys/bass, Declan Kelly – drums) have been slowly building a vessel of exciting new songs.
This is a real return to form for Katie – back to her beloved lush, organic band sound and strong and inspiring personal stores. Katie has written about half the album on her own and then co-written the other half with a host of Anzac luminaries including Tim Finn, Don Walker, Sia Furler, Josh Pyke, Tom Shapcott and her fellow ‘Captains’ band mates.
Don’t miss out on a rare talent with a voice of extraordinary beauty and versatility
A Little About Brian Campeau
Celebrated for his powerful voice, unique instrumentation, unusual arrangements and organic, left field production, Brian Campeau is no regular singer songwriter. He's trying something a little different, and succeeding brilliantly at it. In 2006 Brian released a full-length double album "Two Faces" to rave reviews both locally and internationally. Campeau's new album, "Mostly Winter Sometimes Spring", sees him take a very different approach to song writing, while continuing to make the most of his gift for melody and mood. One instrument was chosen for each song on the album, and played in whichever way seemed to work best at the time. Imagine melodicas being hit, cellos plucked, harmoniums thrown and glockenspiels 'strummed': deliberate misuse of the instruments in a bid to express Campeau's experiences over the last two years. Approaching his instruments in this way allows Campeau to create an almost orchestral sound, despite the fact that he's only using them one at a time.
