Mental As Anything

A popular urban myth concerns a group of art students who passed themselves off as a band inorder to con the local publican into giving them a gig in exchange for free beer. The deceptionworked better than intended, and the group came to be known as
Mental as Anything. Nearly three decades later, they are still irritating the public with their highly listenable, idiosyncratic brand of garage pop. A self-explanatory single to reflect their success, The Nips Are Getting Bigger, rose through the charts as did their fundamental understanding of the old adage that 'for every action there is a reaction'.

Ahead lay a very lengthy pub crawl which only the accomplished could survive. Since 1977 the band has been on several tours internationally and nationally, and they have had over 21 top hits all over the world. In 2006 the band started touring Australia, and last year they released a long awaited  Best of CD, ‘Essential As Anything’ to celebrate over 30 years in the business. Today, the band consist of Martin Plaza on guitar and vocals, Greedy Smith on keyboard and vocals, David Barraclough on bass, Mike Caen on guitar and Robbie Souter on drums. With hits like ‘Rock & Roll Music’, ‘Too Many Times’ and ‘Live It Up’, this is a night you don’t want to miss out on..

STYLUS
-The Return of Australia’s Original
Blue Eyed White Soul Band

Stylus is the only Australian band to be signed
by the American record label, Motown, and after releasing five albums together, the band went their separate ways. But now the hit band from the 70’s is back on the road for a series of shows. It’s been a long time since they had their first two big hits, ‘Summer Breeze’ and ‘Living in a World of Make Believe’, but the music has lived on and still sounds fresh today. Stylus have always been considered to be some of the best musicians in the business so it is no surprise that the reformed band can still make these songs come alive just like they did in the 70’s. The band is made up of the original members Ronny Peers (Guitar), Sam McNally (Keyboards) Ashley Henderson (Bass & Vocals), and the extraordinary vocal talent, and surely one of this country’s greatest voices, Peter Cupples. The only new member in the line up is the remarkable Gerry Pantazis on drums.
