The Uncle Project is a local mentoring program existing for boys who would benefit from a more supportive environment of positive male role models – they are helping boys become men. The Uncle Project has been lucky enough to get The Beautiful Girls to play their last gig for their Australian Tour this year at the Bangalow A&I Hall. The concert is arranged purely for the Uncle Project, and The Beautiful Girls will donate all proceeds to Uncle so they can continue helping the boys in the area.

Soulful roots rockers The Beautiful Girls have just finished off their fourth album, Spooks, and are wrapping up their huge national tour. Known for their laid back and upbeat grungy sunshine tracks, The Beautiful Girls have dug deeper with their latest release, and have now established a sound that is heavier and more involved. As front man Mat McHugh says, “It’s darker, especially in relation to the guitar work. We have layered a lot of the songs with these sonic sounds which is pretty cool.”

Right from the beginning the huge crowd were lapping up every moment and certainly enjoying the tracks from the latest album. The heavy bass grooves and extremely tight dub drumming gave the perfect platform for Mat McHugh to show off his underrated guitar skills and exceptional voice.
